Jose Lopez joined ECHS as the College Prep 9 teacher in the Fall of 2017. Prior to joining the teaching team, Jose has worked as a Paraeducator at ECHS and as an After School Club Leader at ECMS-Inglewood since 2015. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he has worked as an English tutor at both the college and high school level and has been working with youth for almost 5 years. As an alumnus of ECHS, Jose was determined to give back to ECS by teaching and shaping the lives of students the same way his life was shaped by his experience at ECHS.
Jose received his B.A. in English Education with a minor in Theatre Arts from CSU Dominguez Hills. He is currently completing a single-subject teaching credential at CSU Dominguez Hills.
Raised in Compton, Jose in a Los Angeles native. Outside of teaching, he enjoys reading, writing, and watching mindless television to de-stress after a long day. He also enjoys playing music and spends most of his summers and winters touring the country with his band.
