Denise Hernandez joined Environmental Charter High School – Lawndale beginning in Fall 2021. Prior to this position, Denise was a substitute teacher in Antelope Valley Union High School District for four years.

Denise is at ECS because the values of ECS align with her own teaching philosophy. Denise believes that ECS is a space where she can root her ideas with practice, and can grow and learn with students and fellow teachers and other staff. Denise is a graduate from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) and holds a B.A. degree in English and Psychology.  She also earned her teaching credential at CSULA in single-subject English.  

Denise grew up in Palmdale, California and lived in the Los Angeles area while attending CSULA during her undergraduate years. Her hobbies include reading (when time allows), creating jewelry, and wood burning.
