Cynthia Zapata is the Counseling Assistant at Environmental Charter Middle School – Gardena. Cynthia has serviced children and families for about 3 years and has experience working in case management and mental health. She has previously worked for Long Beach Unified School District as a Child Care Worker and was also a Tutor Coordinator for School on Wheels, a nonprofit organization that provides educational services to students undergoing difficult living situations.
Cynthia is at ECS because she believes that every student deserves a right to further their education. She believes it is important to allow all students the opportunity to access resources that will assist them in succeeding educationally and hopes to inspire other students in pursuing higher education and overcoming disparities.
Cynthia is a first-gen graduate of California State University, Long Beach and holds a B.A. in Social Work. She is currently attending California State University, Long Beach and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
