COMMUNITY FORUM
FEBRUARY 6. 2015
9 am – 12 pm
16315 Grevillea Ave 90260
Join us as our students present, advocate, debate and share their perspectives on:
- QUALITY OF LIFE AND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN LOS ANGELES
Students will explore urban planning in Los Angeles and present scaled models of their ideal sustainable solutions for future development. - CHANGE AND HOW WE CAN CREATE IT
Students will investigate the growth of the Los Angeles Basin from the Industrial Revolution and into the future, focusing on how growth has influenced and changed regional ecosystems. Students will create a museum-like exhibit serving to educate about a living organism and the ecological issues that have impacted that organism. Another group of students will be presenting findings about social and political change after exploring art, literature, culture, history and math. You’ll hear their mathematical prediction of the probability of future success. - THE AMERICAN DREAM AND WHETHER IT’S ALIVE IN LOS ANGELES
Students will examine social and economic development in their communities and present their findings related to questions like: “Who used to live in LA and what happened to them?” “What impact did Rise of Suburbia have on LA?” - WHY AND HOW OUR COMMUNITIES NEED US
After learning about the Hermosa Beach oil drilling project and how they can help their community to care about the issue, students will be be sharing the impact of the civic actions they took and the social impact they were able to make.
