California is in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history. But, as Green Ambassadors, we’re here to remind you that there’s something–in fact there are plenty of things–that you can do about it!
Join our friends at Los Angeles Water Keeper by taking the #DirtyCarPledge and agreeing to not wash your car for at least 60 days. The City of Santa Monica and actress Cheryl Hines have taken the pledge; will you?
Join Mayor Garcetti and thousands of others who are saving money by replacing their water-guzzling lawns with drought-tolerant plants. You may even be eligible for a rebate by doing so. In November of this year, LADWP upped the rebate for its lawn removal program, offering $3.75 per square foot for the first 1,500 square feet of residential turf replaced with water wise landscaping features.
The average toilet uses approximately 5 gallons of potable water per flush. Lessen the amount of water you flush down the toilet by installing a low-flow toilet or “when it’s yellow, let it mellow.”
Save water and avoid fines by following Phase 2 of LA’s mandatory water conservation ordinance. You can also report water-wasting violators by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP, or emailing waterwaste@ladwp.com.
