Jennifer Larson serves as the Assistant Principal of Instruction at ECHS-Lawndale. She is a South Bay/Los Angeles native and is originally from Hawthorne, CA where she attended Hawthorne High School. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Political Science, she worked as a Homeschool Teacher and Personal Assistant while pursuing her Master’s degree and Teaching Credential. Jennifer’s formal teaching career began at Alliance Neuwirth Leadership Academy as a Social Science Teacher and then Department Chair for grades 9-12. She has also served in other capacities at Alliance Smidt Tech, including Induction Coach, Teacher Coach, Director of Instruction, and most recently as Assistant Principal before transitioning to ECHS-Lawndale.
Jennifer shares, “My goal in education is to support and empower individuals and communities to lead global efforts for change through equal access to high quality education, culturally responsive practices and transformative opportunities. Some of my proudest moments have been watching my students advocate for the legalization of street vending at the LA City Council meeting, watching the mock mayoral election campaigns our seniors participated in and watching our students work as community leaders through their cross curricular projects.”
Additionally, Jennifer has an active family life with her partner Felipe, daughter Lilo, and pup Oreo. She loves to see the world, eat tasty foods, go on adventures and listen to great music.
