ECMS-Inglewood’s 2nd Annual Harvest Festival brought our students, parents, program and funding partners together with community volunteers to celebrate the fall season. The event featured volunteers planting a native garden with help from Lowe’s Home Improvement and Theodore Payne Foundation, the first student-led tours on our Inglewood campus, a community swap shop and the harvesting of kale from our school gardens, which was then used to make a homemade kale salad. Many community partners were also there to share information about their work, including Imperfect Produce, Kiss The Ground and the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation who shared about how to compost and the importance of composting. Moonwater Farm drew an excited crowd for their petting zoo which featured goats and ducks. CalTrans was also present to share about their Protect Every Drop campaign. It was a great time celebrating together!

This past year, we also expanded our capacity to serve more students with the addition of 10 new classrooms, which includes GrowthPoint Structure shipping container classrooms (the first two-story shipping container classrooms in CA). Our Grow With Us project also included improvements to 35,000 square feet of outdoor learning space, featuring a dry bed stream! Our additional classrooms allow us to double the number of students served by the 2018-2019 school year.
