Dr. Shalene Wright is the Director of Special Education and English Language Development of Environmental Charter Schools. She joined the team in 2023 and brings almost two decades of experience in general and special education with her. Dr. Wright’s career began as a General Education Teacher, transitioning to an Education Specialist where she supported students with mild to severe disabilities in a range of instructional settings.
Before her current position, Dr. Wright served as a Principal and as an Assistant Principal, showcasing strong leadership and a commitment to inclusive education. Additionally, she has worked as an Educational Consultant and Advocate, helping optimize special education services to best meet students needs. Dr. Wright has also held leadership roles as a Department Chair, Instructional Coach and Instructional Specialist, where she provided extensive professional development, promoted curriculum improvement and implemented restorative justice practices to foster a positive school culture. Dr. Wright’s extensive background equips her to lead ECS’s initiative to implement inclusion for all students, ensuring equitable access to quality education.
In her free time she enjoys traveling to explore new cultures and destinations. She cherishes spending quality time with her family, often embarking on outdoor adventures together. Whether hiking, camping, or simply enjoying nature, she finds joy and relaxation in the great outdoors.
