Marco Landon is the 10th grade College Prep teacher at ECHS – Gardena since 2022. Marco’s key areas of expertise are providing culturally relevant curriculum, cultivating critical minds, and creating an environment where every young person can feel safe and brave. Previously, Marco worked as a US History & American Government/Economics teacher within LAUSD.

Marco is at ECS because he aligns himself with the mission of reimagining public education, particularly for Black & Brown youth. Further, the focus on cultivating our natural world as well as teaching young people to take care of the space we occupy is at the forefront of his values.

Marco has had a history of working with undocumented youth, QTBIPOC (Queer & Trans. Black, Indigenous People of Color), and student organizing at the University and High School level.

Marco obtained his undergraduate degree at UC San Diego earning a B.A. in Ethnic Studies, B.S. in Educational Sciences with a Minor in History. He also earned a Masters in Education with an Ethnic Studies certification from UC Los Angeles.

Marco grew up in San Leandro, CA – the San Francisco Bay Area. His hobbies are watching anime, playing volleyball, and fashion. His favorite book is “We Want to Do More Than Survive” by Bettina Love. His passions are accessible technology, centering Black & Indigenous People of Color, and decolonization of the mind, body, and land.
