Jessica Muratalla (she/her/ella) is the Chemistry Teacher at ECHS-Lawndale who was born and raised in Inglewood, California. Her areas of expertise are Chemistry, Finance, and Project Based Learning. Ms. Muratalla has worked in education since graduating high school in 2008, in myriad educational positions in beach cities, Lennox, Hawthorne, El Segundo and on. She began her teaching career at Da Vinci Science immediately after obtaining her Chemistry degree in 2015.
Aside from her love of getting to know students & sharing how Chemistry is intertwined in their lives – she also loves saying bad jokes, periodically. Ms. Muratalla deeply values education and opportunities for black and brown students and that is why she chose ECHS as the next place for her to teach & grow.
Jessica’s hobbies include being at the beach, hiking/camping, and pretending to work out while eating yummy foods with friends and family. She LOVES being a tia to her 5 unpredictable nieces and artistic nephew. Her favorite music include Tove Lo, 90’s + 2000’s Hip Hop/R&B, and Spanish music that reminds her of her childhood (Leo Dan, Banda El Recodo, etc.). She is also very passionate about teaching people to budget, pay off debt, and become financially-independent.
