Dr. Melinda Love is the Founding Math Teacher at Environmental Charter High School – Gardena for the 2021-2022 school year. Melinda has taught high school and middle school math for over 9 years in the South Bay Area. Previously, she taught Integrated Math 1 at Da Vinci Design and Lawndale High School.
Melinda is at ECS because she is passionate about project-based learning and helping students use math to navigate the world around them. She is excited to ground her work in important environmental issues. Melinda hopes to inspire students to do their part to make the world a better place using math.
Melinda is a graduate of Stanford University with a B.A. in Urban Studies with a focus in Urban Education. Melinda then went on to earn a Master’s degree from UCLA in Urban Education. Melinda is the first in her family to receive a Doctorate degree. Melinda got her degree from Loyola Marymount University in Educational Leadership for Social Justice.
Melinda is a native of Gardena, and is excited to be working at a school in the neighborhood she grew up in. In her spare time, she loves to be with her husband, daughter, and doggy. She enjoys all things Disney and Marvel as well as reading a good autobiography.
