Azanni Pruitt is the 9th and 10th-grade counselor at Environmental Charter High School Gardena (ECHSG) since 2022. Her journey with ECHSG began last year (2021) when she worked with students as a Counseling Intern. Her responsibilities include prioritizing students’ social, emotional, and academic needs. Azanni has worked in schools for the past six years in various capacities, first as a student mentor at Willard Middle School; then as a Behavioral Interventionist and Substitute Teacher at Beach Cities Learning Center, and now as a Counselor. 

Azanni Pruitt attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Education. Azanni is a 2022 graduate of Loyola Marymount University. At LMU, she earned a Master of Arts in Counseling as well as her PPS credential. Azanni is a Member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and is currently the staff facilitator of the Black Student Union Club on Campus.

Azanni was born and bred in South Central, Los Angeles, and her hobbies include reading fantasy novels and doing her nails. She is passionate about advocating for underrepresented students and has the desire to see equitable outcomes in urban schools. Azanni hopes to receive her Ph. D in Social Justice Education and become a Licensed Clinical Counselor.
