ECHS Graduate Kate Spence with Professor Sonia Nagorski in Alaska
Kate Spence, ECHS class of 2013, traveled to Alaska over Winter Break to garner first hand experience on her Senior Thesis project. Kate is studying the negative environmental effects of mercury contamination in the Arctic. She researched the health of the indigenous people due to this contamination and the history of their cultural food. We asked Kate to share about her trip to Alaska, her Senior Thesis and what she sees in her future. Kate’s study represents one of many incredible Senior Thesis topics that our students took on this year.
