More than 240 volunteers from The CarMax Foundation, Environmental Charter Schools, KaBOOM! and community joined forces on June 7 to build a new playground in just ONE day at the newly-opened Environmental Charter Middle School – Gardena (ECMS-G).
The brand new playground was designed based on drawings created by ECMS-G students. Build Day took place in conjunction with a similar playground going up in Virginia, that same day. The two playgrounds are the first of 30 playgrounds that the CarMax Foundation and KaBOOM! will build across the country by the end of 2015.
Let’s play! Previously, the neighborhood lacked a playground, but now we hope that more than 1,200 children in the Gardena community will enjoy this safe place to play.
