ECS STUDENTS WILL SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS WITH ADDITIONAL STEM SUPPORT
Environmental Charter Schools and Chevron announced their continuing partnership as Chevron awarded $60,000 in grant funding to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs. At ECS, STEM serves as foundational work for students at every grade level, but it also extends beyond the classroom into our after-school programming.
“Chevron's commitment to, and investment in, STEM education is unrivaled. Over the years, Chevron has helped ECS to deliver high-quality STEM instruction to ensure that our students graduate as critical thinkers and creative problem solvers.”
-Alison Diaz, Executive Director
The Chevron grant will specifically support STEM achievement and access to technology. At Environmental Charter Schools, STEM programming is delivered through a variety of programs including the MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement) Program, the Solar Boat program, Sustain-a-Store, the Bike Shop and the Green Ambassadors program.
ECS has also launched a STEM Tiny Homes (sustainable living) after-school program, during which students employ computer-aided design technology, computer programing skills, architecture techniques and engineering techniques. We are grateful to Chevron for their gift and are excited to watch all of the exciting STEM developments unfold on our campuses.
