Danny Cristales is the AP of Instruction at Environmental Charter Middle School – Inglewood. Danny’s key areas of expertise and responsibilities include leading and supporting the implementation of restorative justice practices and student engagement. Additionally, Danny holds nine years of English/History classroom teaching experience, three years of leadership experience representing ECMS-I on the ECS Equity and Diversity Committee and as the English Grade Level Team Leader.
Danny is at ECS because of the organization’s focus on empowering students to become, not only advocates of their own education, but also advocates of their community and of their planet. He shares the passion to help shape individuals to be socially aware, politically-inclined and environmentally-focused. ECS allows leaders to grow and are supported in achieving their goals.
Danny is a graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara and holds a B.A. in Sociology. He earned a M.A. from Pepperdine University.
Danny is a native of Los Angeles, CA. Danny absolutely loves basketball and still plays to this day. His favorite books are 1984 by George Orwell, Native Son by Richard Wright and The Book of Basketball by Bill Simmons. His favorite cuisine are the delicious pupusas from his native El Salvador and his favorite movie of all time is Independence Day (1996).
