David Jonas is a Special Education Coordinator at Environmental Charter High School in Lawndale and has been with the organization since 2015. David’s key areas of expertise and responsibilities include the practice of functional learning through practical applications, one-on-one tutoring, career exploration, and ensuring that his students are prepared for life and college outside of Environmental Charter High School. David was drawn to Environmental Charter High School because of their integrated and personalized approach to teaching, which he applies in his classroom each day. He also knows that when he forgets his lunch, he can find something to eat hanging from the trees or growing in the school gardens. David’s favorite activity at school is beating the students in every staff vs student sports game.David received his B.A. from Villanova University in Political Science and received his M.A. in Secondary Education from Loyola Marymount University. David also received his Special Education Mild-Moderate Credential from LMU.David is a native to the East Coast and was born and raised in New York City. Outside of teaching, David enjoys spending his time in the Eastern Sierras camping, hiking and fishing and enjoying the fresh air. Additionally, David can be found on the golf course each weekend working on his putting.
