AS FEATURED IN DIGITAL JOURNAL

Alliance for Climate Education (ACE) Youth Advisory Board member Jordan Howard is featured on Ebony magazine’s Power 100 List on newsstands this week. The annual list is composed of the most influential African Americans across industries including entertainment and film, fashion and community service.
Jordan is a 21-year-old thought leader at the intersection of sustainability, environmental education and youth empowerment. As one of the youngest sustainability educators and green school champions, Jordan’s journey began at the Environmental Charter High School in Los Angeles, California while taking a mandatory environmental service learning class. Jordan was an environmental skeptic until she later realized that her skepticism resulted from not being educated on solutions to environmental issues.
Inspired by her class and the ACE presentation, Jordan began transforming her school through education campaigns. Jordan joined the ACE Youth Advisory Board in 2009 and continues to provide a keen and fresh youth perspective that informs organizational direction, particularly in youth engagement and media.
Jordan understands education is empowerment and has made it her mission to provide youth with the inspiration and tools to create the change they want to see in their schools, communities, and cities. She is the author of several books including the acclaimed, “Green My Parents” and co-host of GenYNot—a web-based news and talk show designed for youth to speak about issues that affect them and what Jordan aptly refers to as the “CNN for Millenials.”
“I am super honored and grateful to have been chosen for Ebony’s Power 100 List. It’s a privilege to do what I love at 21 years old and I appreciate the support of my fam, friends and mentors.”
Jordan shares the Ebony Power 100 distinction with an impressive range of powerhouses including urban revitalization strategist Majora Carter, actor and activist Harry Belafonte, director Lee Daniels and superstar Beyonce´.
