Jesus Cortez serves as the Safety Coordinator at Environmental Charter Schools. He is a South Bay/Los Angeles native and is originally from Hawthorne, CA. Jesus actually attended Environmental Charter High School and graduated in 2015. After graduating he worked at Tesla Motos in Santa Monica while attending Santa Monica College. There he earned an AA in Liberal Arts, allowing him to move onto UCLA. At the University of California, Los Angeles Jesus studied Central American and Chicanx Studies along with Education, graduating in 2021. Shortly after he did a full circle and came back to ECHS-L from former student to current staff.
Jesus Cortez is also a big fan of soccer and helps coach the ECHS girls soccer team for its first time since before the pandemic. In his freetime Jesus is really into vintage clothes and spends lots of time at flea markets and thrift stores. He even started his own clothing brand as a side hobby. On other days you will catch him at a movie theater watching all the latest films.
His favorite book is ‘This is how you lose her by Junot Diaz’.
His favorite movie is ‘Pearl Harbor’.
