Betsy Bautista Rivera was hired as the 8th grade Science teacher of the Environmental Charter Middle School in Gardena starting December 2022. However, Betsy has eight years’ experience with ECS, specifically as the Green Ambassadors teacher and College Prep 10 teacher at Environmental Charter High School – Lawndale. Prior to her work as a classroom teacher, Betsy was a Field Science Educator with NatureBridge, leading students on week-long field trips in Yosemite, the Santa Monica Mountains and Channel Islands.
Betsy is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and holds a B.A. in Psychology and B.A. in Sociology. Additionally, she earned a Master’s in Education from Digital Teaching and Learning from APU in 2013.
Betsy enjoys spending time with her child and spouse in the outdoors and putting their National Parks Annual Pass to good use. She also loves to watch , has been known to get distracted by a cool bird sighting, and will never be without at least three pairs of shoes or a smile.
