Jorge L. Arroyo has been a Board Member since July of 2013. He is the Director of Student Support Services for the Lawndale Elementary School District. In this capacity he is responsible for establishing and maintaining support systems to meet the behavioral, social-emotional, and physical health needs of students so they can be achieve academically.
Jorge began his career in education over twenty-five years ago. He started as a teacher’s assistant and has gone on to be a general and special education teacher, school counselor, administrator and school board member for the Inglewood USD, Los Angeles USD, Lennox SD, Centinela Valley UHSD and the Lawndale Elementary SD. Jorge has taught and served students at every grade level from pre-school to adult school in one capacity or another.
A native of Mexico, Jorge emigrated with his parents and five siblings in 1971. Raised in a family that highly values education, Jorge obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, Masters of Education, Teaching, Counseling and Administrative credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He lives in the South Bay with his wife, Claudia, and his two sons, Emiliano and Diego. When he is not working, Jorge spends his time coaching, playing competitive soccer, reading, or engaged in Philately.
